Maaike Swets

PhD student

Maaike Swets graduated from Leiden University (The Netherlands) with a BSc and MSc (summa cum laude) in medicine. Maaike started her PhD in 2020, focusing on respiratory viruses and the risk of developing critical illness. She is part of the OneHealth program between Edinburgh and Leiden and will spend time in both institutions, starting in Edinburgh. She is co-supervised by Dr Kenneth Baillie and Dr Geert Groeneveld (Leiden).
